Overhead Conveyors
Overhead conveyors are an ideal way of transporting many types of products through a variety of production processes. As the name suggests, they are primarily positioned overhead so utilise the space above floor level helping to keep floor areas usable. They can be used for moving small light weight items such as cartons or boxes to much larger and heavier products such as lengths of aluminium extrusion or heavy fabricated components.
Overhead conveyors can also be flexible for utilisation as a floor mounted application such as a towline when operator access around the full product is necessary.
They are an essential requirement for painting and finishing applications especially those with processes that would be unsuitable for operators to enter.
Depending on throughput, process and budget we have a range of products available to suit your need.
Manual Conveyors
Manual conveyors consist of trolleys within an enclosed track that allow operators to manually move products through production and painting processes. The systems available from Brown & Holmes Automation have individual trolley capacities ranging from 200Kg to 800 Kg for heavier applications whilst connecting trolleys using load bars can increase this capacity.
Hooks, Carriers and Rotators from which to suspend the products can also be provided.
Manual conveyors are ideal for low throughput application.

Manual Conveyor – Load bars

Manual Conveyor – Turntables
Technical Details
- 200 Kg and 800Kg – Capacities can be increased by linking the trolleys together with load bars
- Enclosed track
- Hooks, Carriers and Rotators available
- Lift and lower stations are available
- Divert/Merge switches and turntables are available
- Suitable for temperatures up to 250°C
Monorail Conveyors
Monorail conveyors consist of an enclosed track with a continuous chain driven by a motor-powered drive unit. A series of pendants will be attached to the chain from which products can be hung.
They can be used for many manufacturing and paint finishing processes and due to their modular design, they can be constructed to suit individual layout configurations.
The system available from Brown & Holmes has an individual pendant capacity of up to 110kg.

Power & Free Conveyors
Power & Free systems consist of a twin track arrangement with a driven chain track mounted above a free-running load-carrying trolley track. The twin track arrangement allows for stop units, switches and merges to be used to engage or disengage trolleys from the power chain for process or accumulative buffer storage. They can then be automatically re-engaged to transport the products to the next process as required.
They can be used for many manufacturing and paint finishing processes and due to their modular design, they can be constructed to suit individual layout configurations.
The systems available from Brown & Holmes Automation have individual trolley capacities of 200kg and 500kg. Load bars can be used to connect multiple trolleys together to accommodate heavier loads.

Inverted Power & Free Conveyors
Inverted power & free systems utilise similar technology to their overhead cousin but with the inverted application the twin track arrangement has the drive chain track mounted below a free-running load-carrying trolley track. These conveyors are designed specifically for use only in the inverted orientation and allow functions such as stopping and buffer accumulation of products to be achieved. Their inverted design offers a very stable solution with a fully guided trolley.
They can be used for many manufacturing and paint finishing processes and due to their modular design, they can be constructed to suit individual layout configurations.
The systems available from Brown & Holmes Automation have individual trolley capacities of 200kg and the carriage design is tailored to accommodate buffer accumulation.
